My friend Louise was very proud to be a WAF. She was a SSGT at the end of her enlistment in 1963. U.S. Army on her headstone is incorrect. She was trained in the electronics field, and after leaving the military, worked in that field for a few years. Louise then was hired by the postal service and worked at the Terminal Annex in Los Angeles until her retirement. Louise played on base softball teams and for many years she was awarded most improved bowler. After retirement from postal service, Louise burned up the roads between her home in Perris, CA and Laughlin and/or Las Vegas. She did love to feed the one armed bandits in both cities. Breakfast at Binion's Horseshoe was a great favorite. Her adult beverage of choice was sometimes Cutty Sark and milk. She loved all cats!! She especially loved the game of Scrabble and always had a game set in her car, just in case someone wanted to play. Louise loved to talk about her family, her Father Latt and her Mother Sallie. Louise was born and rasied in Columbus and lived there with her family until she enlisted in the Air Force. Louise's two older sisters, Sallie and Elzena tried their best to spoil her as a child. They were both teachers and practiced on Louise, and she was an intelligent woman. A highlight of Louise's life was as a resident of Los Angeles County, she was selected for jury duty when Audie Murphy was tried and aquited for attempted murder in 1970. Per Louise - if Audie Murphy had meant to shoot the man, the man would be dead. Louise could discuss the Bible with anyone, never raise her voice, and was a proud and faithful Christian.
