Charles Edward Abendroth, age 62 of St. Elmo, Illinois died Wednesday July 2, 2003 at his home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 5, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Avena United Methodist Church Rural St. Elmo, Il. Visitation will be on Friday July 4, 2003 from 6 to 8 PM at the Kessel Funeral Home St. Elmo, Il. and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Avena Township. In Lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Family.
Charles was born on April 8, 1941 in Otego Township Fayette County the son of: E. Marvin and Betty J. (Barbee) Abendroth. He was employed as a Janitor for Lincoln Grade School in Vandalia for several years until he became disabled in 1981. He was also employed by Pinkerton Securities as a Security Guard, Fuller Brush Company as a Salesman, and General Electric in Decatur, Il. as a Material Handler. He also mowed many residents lawns in St. Elmo, Il. He attended the Avena United Methodist Church.

He married Lorene Gorenz on February 7, 1959 in Corinth, Mississippi. He is survived by: His wife: Lorene, Mother: Betty J. Abendroth of Vandalia, Il. and Father: E. Marvin Abendroth of St. Elmo, Il. Three Daughters: Mrs. Tony (Susan) Jeffers of Shelbyville, Il., Mrs. James (Theresa) Harre and Mrs. Lisa (the Late Bob) Oliver both of Brownstown Il. Two Sons: Scott (Wife: Cindy) Abendroth of Shelbyville, Il. and Daniel (Wife: Linda) Abendroth of Elgin, Il. One Sister: Betty Foster of St. Elmo, Il. 16 Grandchildren: Chris (Wife: Tassi) Beals, Joshua Beals, Mrs. Josh (Lacey) Smith, Dylan Finley, Mrs. Kenny (Wendy) Cook, Mrs. Brian (Amelia) Garrard, Mrs. Jason (Jessica) Belcher, Stephen Harre, Jake Goldsborough, Danielle Pasley, Andrea Oliver, Amber, Chelsey, Tanner, Alicia and Alex Abendroth. Five Great Grandchildren: Bryce Pasley, Gavin Blain, Koester Cook, Braydon Smith and Gannon Beals. One niece and Two Nephews. He was preceded in death by: One Grandson: Christopher "Speed" Harre.
