Hiram was a son of Solomon Gibbs Hodge and Mary Bradley. He was a brother of Mrs. Aurelia Hodge Ransom, Horace Hodge, Mrs. Mary J. Hodge Tuttle, Harvey Hodge, Francis Hodge and Franklin Hodge. Hiram died at the age of 66 years. In the same lot are: Betsey L. Ransom Hodge (wife); Fred W. Hodge; Hattie C. Stanley Hodge; George W. Englehart; and M. Alice Hodge Englehart.

"IN MEMORIAM.—Mr. Hiram B. Hodge died at his home at Chittenango Falls, April 3rd, 1891, at the age of 71 years on the 35th of January last. He was the son of Solomon and Mary Hodge, of Lake George, Warren County, this State, and a brother of Mrs. Aurelia Ransom of Perryville, and Mrs. David Tuttle of this village. Forty-two years ago on the fourth day of July next, he was united in marriage with Miss Betsey Ransom of Perryville, who survives him to mourn her loss. Five children were born to them in the following order, viz: Alice, who is the wife of George Engleheart of Syracuse; Emma, the wife of John Jones, of Chittenango Falls ; Frederick, who is in business in Perryville; Herbert, who remains on the old homestead; and George, who lives in Syracuse. These children are all settled in life, but were permitted to be present, with their wives, when their father died, and acted as bearers at the funeral. The sisters above mentioned were also present to hear their brother's last words. Mr. Hodge had spent his entire married life in that neighborhood and Thirty-nine years of it on the farm where he breathed his last. He was happy in his home, industrious in his habits, devoted to his family, loved by them in return, successful in business, and highly respected by his neighbors, as was shown in the large gathering at his funeral, and in other ways. He was a man of sound judgment, and his children, especially, enjoyed counseling with him in matters of importance. Though not a member of any church, he was a firm believer in the Christian religion, a great reader of the Bible, a supporter of the Church, and desired that his family be interested in its welfare. The funeral was attended at the family residence, April 8th, and the burial took place in the family lot in the Perryville cemetery. Rev. McKendree Shaw, of this place officiating. The widow, the children, the sisters, and all the mourners, have the heartfelt sympathies of their many friends."
