Born on September 5, 1963 in St. Louis Missouri, went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2008 in Plano, Texas.
In May of 1987, Hank graduated from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts in communications. He was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity in Springfield, Missouri. The friends he made in high school and college he kept for life every year they get together for a fishing trip in May.
In 1988, he married the love of his life Lori Espy. Hank loved people and was always outgoing. He was more concerned about making sure the people around him were taken care of before himself. He enjoyed sports hockey and golf were his favorite. He was an avid Dallas Stars fan and played on several hockey teams himself. He assisted the Coach for the McKinney High School Hockey team where the Hank Murphy award is handed out each year in his honor. In his free time he spent several hours playing golf with friends.
Hank was a volunteer with the Big Brother/Big Sister program for several years a program he felt strongly about and kept close to his heart. Hank loved animals and rescued many, sometimes several at a time and from other states, that he would take home and keep until he was able to find a good home for them.
Hank and Lori together had a daughter Lauren that was the pride and joy of Hank. He was a devoted father and the bond that developed between Lauren and Hank was truly a gift from God. He was the coach of Lauren's 1st soccer team.
For the past 15 years he was a DJ for Hot AC on ABC National radio. Hank never felt this was a job but more of a hobby and enjoyed every minute of it.
Hank's faith never wavered he was a member of Farmers Branch Church of Christ for the past 14 years. His favorite phrase was "I'm blessed and highly favored." Together with his wife Lori they led a Bible Study out of their home for 7 years. His love for the lord and the bible showed in all he did.
Hank is preceded in death by his father Harry W. "Bud" Murphy and his father-in-law Tom Espy. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lori Murphy and daughter, Lauren Murphy; mother, Arlene and her husband William Sullivan, MD; brother, Paul and his wife Ann Murphy; Mother-in-law, Millie and her husband Craig Hesington; brother-in-law, Chris Espy; step-sisters Kelly Northcutt, Tracey and her husband Todd Hammack and 2 nephews Andrew and Joseph Murphy.
