Ellen Mary Jennings was called "Nellie" by her family and "Jane" by her co-workers at the Crystal Laundry. She moved with her family to Union City in 1938 and to El Reno in 1960. She retired from the Crystal Laundry. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Nellie was my aunt. She lived with her sister Kate and her Mother. They also raised one of their neices.
We were rather afraid of Nellie when we were young. She was quite strict. However, when we got older we found out she was great. We ended up treating her as a second mother. My mom missed her so much when she died.
My daughter, Kara, was never afraid of her. She was very fond of Kara and would always have Kara come over and mow her lawn for her.
She had a boyfriend, Carl Kroger, for as long as I can remember. But she would never marry him. When he was diagnosed with cancer, she then took over caring for him.
