She is survived by two children from her first marriage to Wilbur Hobby, Phyllis Lasater Loya of Antioch, Cal. and James "Buddy" Hobby of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, James Lasater (Lenore), of Martinez, Cal., Jay Hobby (Erica), of Baltimore, Md and Monica Ludlum (Bruce) of Fuquay-Varina; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hobby; sister, Betty Ann Allen; great-grandchildren, Victoria Ludlum, Beau Ludlum, Seth Lasater, Cody Lasater and a large loving extended family. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Larry Westegard and her grandson, Larry Lasater, a police officer who was killed in the line of duty.
She graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1947. Extremely proud of being a Durham native, she returned to her hometown in December 2004. She had lived in California for thirty years. She was a member of Golden Hill Community Church. Hilda worked in the retail business for many years. Her amazing talent in design was appreciated by many. An avid historian, she authored a treasured family history and cookbook. She will be sorely missed by all.
