Northern Tribune, April 6, 1921:
The death of John Mullen at the age of 87 years, occurred at his home in Rossie Wednesday evening at 6 o'clock. Mr. Mullen was born in Montreal, Quebec, April 17, 1834, the son of Michael and Caroline Carey Mullen. He came to this section when a very young boy with his parents and has since resided here. He was married to Miss Ellen Hunter whose death occurred six years ago.

Mr. Mullen is survived by four sons, James and Leo of Rossie, William of this village, and Daniel of Macomb, three daughters Mr. F. J. Kelly at Syracuse and Misses Nellie and Grace Mullen of Rossie. The funeral was held from the Roman Catholic Church Saturday eveningat 10:30 o'clock. Rev. Father Thomas officiating. Burial was made in Rossie Cemetery.
