Hilda Ophelia Jordan Hargrove, 83, of (Pomonkey) Indian Head, MD, departed this life Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD. She was the wife of the late Daniel Hargrove. They resided in New Jersey for over 30 years. However, in the early 1990's she moved back home to Maryland.
Hilda (Ophelia) was born on March 18, 1924 to the late Wesley and the late Estelle Jordan. She was educated in the Charles County Public School System. She worked at RCA for many years and retired from Tecknit.
She found great joy in entertaining family and friends. Taking care of stray animals and wild life was a passion and feeding them regularly is something she made sure to do.
She was preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth Jordan and Celeste Jordan Key; brothers Hugh, John, George, Cleopas, Randolph and raised as a brother, nephew Jimmy (James) Jordan.
She is survived by one sister Edna Livingston; three brothers Oswald, Cecil and Earl Jordan; four sisters-in-law, Everdene, Louise, Mary Jordan and Daisy Lewis; step son Lamont Hargrove and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and family.
Her services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2008, viewing 9:00a.m. until time of service 11:00a.m. at Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Maryland. Interment will be in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland.
