Hannabal Lamb death notice Tomah Journal September 16, 1882
Lew Lamb and his father, who reside about 10 miles north of Tomah, were in town on Thursday last, and got pretty full, and while trying to get the old man into the buggy he suddenly died on their hands. The old man has been subject to sinking spells for a number of years.

1st settler Lincoln Twp. owned Lamb Tavern

Hannibal Alex Lamb was born on 10 August 1806 in Columbus, Chenango County, New York, son of Alven Lamb and Prudence Greenleaf. He was married on 3 July 1831 to Melinda Enches. Melinda was born on 9 September 1815, probably in New York, daughter of Ishmael Enches and Sally Henderson.

In 1840, Hannibal's household in Columbus, Warren County, Pennsylvania contained six people.

On 21 August 1850, Hannibal and Malinda and eight children- Alvin, Lewis, Ursula, William, Galon, Henry, Mary, William- lived in Elba, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Hannibal farmed with the help of two sons, Alvin and Lewis. The farm was valued at $550.

On 11 July 1860, the couple and nine children- Lewis, William, Galen, Henry, Mary, Stephen, Albert, Jane, and Lorenzo- lived in Greenfield, Monroe County, Wisconsin. The family=s farm was valued at $2,000 and their personal possessions at $400. Henry, Mary, Stephen, Albert, and Jane were all attending school.

On 10 June 1870, Hannibal and Abigail lived in Lincoln township, Monroe County with four of Hannibal=s children- Stephen, Amie Jane, Lorenzo, and Sally. The family farm was valued at $3,000 and their possessions $397. The three youngest children were attending school.

Melinda died on 10 December 1862 (tombstone says 1864) in Lincoln township, Monroe County, Wisconsin. Hannibal was married on 3 January 1866 in Monroe County, Wisconsin to Abigail Woodbridge. Abigail was born in 1815 in New York.
On 1 June 1880, Hannibal and Melinda lived with Hannibal=s son Galon and his family in Lincoln township, Monroe County. He was retired.

Abigail died in 1881. Hannibal died in 1882. Hannibal and his two wives are buried in the Lincoln Peterson Kirby Cemetery in Monroe County, Wisconsin.

Hannibal and Melinda (Enches) Lamb were the parents of thirteen children:

ii. ALVIN MILO LAMB was born on 14 September 1833 in Columbis township, Warren County, Pennsylvania.
iii. LEWIS ALEXANDER LAMB was born on 4 August 1835 in Ohio.
iv. URSULA ANN LAMB was born on 18 March 1838 in Columbus township,
v. WILLIAM HENDERSON LAMB was born in June 1841 in Pennsylvania.
vi. GALON LEROY LAMB was born on 29 April 1845 in Pennsylvania.
vii. HENRY ENCHES LAMB was born on 20 October 1846 in Wisconsin.
viii. MARY MINERVA LAMB was born on 20 September 1849 in Wisconsin.
ix. STEPHEN GREENLEAF LAMB was born on 29 April 1852 in Dodge County, Wisconsin. Stephen was married to Phoebe Eva Bigelow.
x. JAMES ALBERT LAMB was born on 1 July 1854 in Wisconsin.
xi. EMMA JANE LAMB was born on 12 August 1856 in Wyeville, Monroe County, Wisconsin.
xii. DANIEL LORENZO LAMB was born on 19 February 1858 in Wisconsin.
xiii. SALLY MELINDA LAMB was born on 28 June 1862 in Monroe County, Wisconsin.
