Mrs. Irene Wachter Esterly, 92, of Hagerstown, formerly of Frederick, died Tuesday, March 26, at Reeder's Memorial Home, Boonsboro, where she had resided for several years. She was the wife of Philip Russell Esterly who died in 1944.
Born Jan. 13, 1899, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late David Eli Wachter and Josephine Smith Wachter Bruchey.
Mrs. Esterly was a devoted and faithful Baptist. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hagerstown, and a former member of First Baptist Church, Frederick.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Jane Esterly Harrison and Robert R. Harrison of Hagerstown; two grandsons, R. Reed Harrison of Holmdel, N.J., and Jeffrey B. Harrison of Boonsboro; two great-granddaughters, Emily B. Harrison and Jayme E. Harrison; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, with Mrs. Esterly's pastor, the Rev. Wendell Gross, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
