Rosemary "Rose" Ruth Tolbert, 52, of St. Albans, passed away March 20, 2008 at home.

Rose was born May 19, 1955 in Kanawha County. She was a daughter of the late James Hubert and Hazel Comer Slater. Rose loved to read, work crossword puzzles, collect dolls and cigarette lighters. She was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. She will most be remembered for the love she had for her family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Rowe and a brother, LeRoy Slater.

Rose is survived by her loving husband, James Ray Tolbert; daughter, Monja Crouch and her husband, Jeff of St. Albans; stepson, James Tolbert Jr. and his wife, Ida of St. Albans; stepdaughter, Karla Meitler of Kanawha City; brothers, Ervin Slater of Berkeley Springs and Hubert Slater Jr. and his wife, Betty of St. Albans; sisters, Carolyn Stotelmyer and Brenda Seckman, both of St. Albans; Beverly Jennings and her husband, Don of Dunbar, Dianne Kelly and her husband, Franklin of Hurricane and Janice Gill of Dunbar; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Rose's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, St. Albans, with Pastor Mark Hesson officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
