---Lillie May Shumaker, 87, of LaPlata died unexpectedly Saturday morning (Feb. 16, 1980) at 6:30 in the Chastine Nursing Home in Marceline, where she had been a resident since October 28, 1979.
---Born June 16, 1892 near LaCrosse, in Macon County, she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Lucy Jane Allen Roberts. On Aug. 23, 1908 in Mercerville, she was married to Charles Walter Shumaker, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1962. Also preceding her in death were one son, five brothers, one sister, one granddaughter and two great-great granddaughters.
---Suriving are three sons, Floyd Shumaker, of LaPlata, Robert Shumaker of Attica, Kas., and Roy Shumaker of Rt. 4, LaPlata; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Maureta) Murphy of Rt. 6, Kirksville, Mrs. Glen (Evelyn) Hayden of Covina, Calif., Mrs. Stewart (Thelma) Perkins of Columbia and Mrs. Charles (Laura) Brown of Shawnee Mission, Kas.; 28 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
---Mrs. Shumaker spent most of her life in the Elmer community until 10 years ago, when she moved to LaPlata.
---She was a member of the Elmer Christian Church and attended the LaPlata Christian Church.
---Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 19, 1980) at 1:30 in the Elmer Christian Church. The Rev. Gary Smith, pastor of the LaPlata Christian Church and the Rev. Leo Shumaker, Mrs. Shumaker's grandson, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Elmer cemetery.
---The body is at the Pollock Funeral Home in LaPlata, where it will remain until noon Tuesday when it will be taken to the church.
---Bearers will be Claude Phillips, Robert Dale Bowen, Neal McMann, Lindsey Evans, Benny Murphy and Wayne Cribb.
