Came to Texas with Parents, Maria and Hein Bertling from Plattendorf, Hannover Germany departed 09/27/1845 on ship Everhard.Went to Galveston Texas first but couln't dock the ship so they went to Indianola Texas. From Victoria Texas to Gonzales where Hein and Maria with the children (Dor., Maria, Conrad, Hein and Christain) His father Henrich Maria and Christain are buried in an unmark grave in the Old New Braunfels Cem. Comal Co. Texas they died in 1846. Father is unknown buried. Other siblings are buried unknown also. Hein the survior lived in Gonzales and Harwood in Gonzales County Texas. Hein (Henry) was also known as Henry Batling. Henry Bertling married Clara Delissa Taylor July 21,1867 after he returned from the Civil War. They had 14 children:
John Cleveland, Adrain Taylor, Charles Dee, Otto, Clara Bell, Agnes Carrie, Ethel Iris, Henry Edward, Olive Alice, Mary Frances(Fannie) and Osker, 3 children died at birth
