Surviving are one brother, Eugene L. (Floris) Briggs of Maquon, Illinois; four halfbrothers, Junior (Sharon) Thompson of Galesburg, Illinois, Don Thompson of Rock Island, Illinois, Jerry (Mary) Thompson of East Galesburg, Illinois and Billie Thompson of Galesburg, Illinois; one halfsister, Carol Morris of Galesburg, Illinois; one aunt, Doris Thompson of Galesburg, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews; and special friends, Bud and Pam Starnes of Maquon, Illinois. He was preceded by his parents; one halfbrother: Jimmie Thompson and his grandparents: Georgie and Bill Baughman who raised him.
He was born and raised in Williamsfield and Maquon, Illinois. He worked at Butler Manufacturing as a welder and in the maintenance department. He then worked at Mid-State Manufacturing in Galesburg, Illinois. He was active in the reenactment of Heritage Days in Galesburg, Illinois and attended other reenactments throughout the year. He was an active follower of the National Hot Rod Association and was an active fisherman.
Cremation Rites will be accorded. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Marilyn Anell officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 11:00 A.M. until time of services at the Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Inurnment in Maquon Cemetery in Maquon, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Family.
