Don was born March 13, 1939 in Flemington, W.Va. in Taylor County, son of the late Thomas Edward and June Watson Jacobs.
He was a retired Police Lieutenant for the city of Paden City with 25 years of service; a United States Air Force veteran; member of Eagles Aries No. 2281 of Paden City; Paden City American Legion Post 86; and the Fraternal Order of Police.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, JoAnn Jacobs.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Brown Jacobs; five children, Tom Jacobs and his wife, Janet, of Fairmont, W.Va., Donald E Jacobs, Jr. of Rittman, Ohio, Misty Jones of New Martinsville, W.Va., Belinda Baker and her husband, Todd, and Jay Slider and his wife, Janet, both of Paden City; 12 grandchildren, Rebecca Jacobs-Sine, Jennifer Jacobs, Heather Minger, Theresa, Jared, Garrett and Myra Jacobs, Makayla and Jesse Jones, Graeson Baker, and Carlyn and Trey Slider; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Tristen Sine; mother-in-law, Mildred J. Brown; brother, James Jacobs and his wife, Shirley, of Geneva, Ohio; and sister, Judy Maxwell and her husband, Lester, of Lumberport, W.Va.
Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City, where services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2008 with the Rev. Adrian Cowgill officiating.
Interment in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City.
Full military graveside services will be conducted by Paden City American Legion Post 86, New Martinsville American Legion Post 28, Sistersville American Legion Post 67, and Sistersville VFW Post 6327.
