The spirit of Dorris Marie Hurt (Wiese) Bellegante left its exhausted shell March 5, 2008, from Rupert, Idaho. Having suffered several strokes; robbing her of sight, speech, stature and independence, her once athletic, active and attractive frame was defeated.

Born July 28, 1925, in Bremo Bluff, Virginia, she was the youngest of nine children to Mary Elizabeth Wells and William Henry Hurt.

She married Harold Edward Wiese on March 20, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They raised their five children, four sons and one daughter in Ogden, Utah. They later divorced.

She moved to Idaho and met and married Gelson Joseph (Joe) Bellegante on July 13, 1972. For almost 20 years, she was an Avon representative in the Minidoka/Cassia County area.

She was an avid golfer, bowler and pool player. She won several state and national titles in bowling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three brothers and two sisters and one grandson.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dean Edward (Anne) Wiese of Farmington, Utah, Shelba Ann (Lacey) Jarolimek of Winnemucca, Nev., Marvin Jay Wiese of Rupert, Idaho, Alan Ray (Linda) Wiese of Washington Terrace, Utah, and Gilbert Lee (Michelle) Wiese of Heyburn, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three sisters; two brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
