CLARKSBURG — Dessie Sonoma Linn Stemple, 99, of Clarksburg, WV, went home to be with Jesus and many loved ones, at her residence on February 29, 2008. Mrs. Stemple was born in Taylor County, on March 26, 1908, the daughter of the late John and Mary Corbin Linn. Her husband, of 54 years, James A. Stemple, preceded her in death on January 4, 1986.

Surviving are five sons, Clayton C. Stemple and his wife Chum Hui of Seattle, WA, Victor L. Stemple, James C. Stemple, Jerry A. Stemple and Harold Stemple, all of Clarksburg; five daughters, Maxine McCartney of McArthur, OH, Mary Mick and her husband Charles of Clarksburg, Wilda Parsons and her husband Daniel of Herlock, MD, Murhl Blessing and her husband Lew of Lyndhurst, VA, and Johnny C. Wood of Stuarts Draft, VA; thirty-seven grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren; forty-two great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; and nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Stemple was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Winters; two stepsons, Leon and Leonard Stemple; three sisters, Sylvia and Opal Linn and Velma Vincent; one brother, Raymond Linn; six grandchildren, Frederick Mick, LCpl. Daniel Morris, Levi Skinner, Mary Osley, Chrystal Winters and Theresa Stemple.

Mrs. Stemple was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all. Family and friends may call at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Drive, Route 98, Clarksburg, on Monday, from 6-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at noon, with the Reverend O. D. Harmon officiating.

Mrs. Stemple's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to People's Hospice, PO Box 1680, Clarksburg, WV 26301 or the Visiting Angels, PO Box 770, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
