William Henry Richards Jr.

William Henry Richards Jr., 82, of White Post, died on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Winchester Medical Center.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1925, in Stanley and was a son of the late William Henry and Blanche Baker Richards.

Mr. Richards worked for 25 years as a heavy equipment operator for VDOT, retiring Jan. 1, 1990.

On Feb. 12, 1946, he married the former Helen Frances Rothgeb, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Mary Frances Sehrist of Paris, and Kay Elizabeth Richards and Judy Lee Helmick, both of Winchester; a sister, Mildred Keyser of West Virginia; a brother, Franklin D. Richards of Frederick, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James David Richards Sr.; two sisters, Lucy Irene Campbell and Janice Louise Campbell; and one grandchild.

A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Page United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ralph H. Crabill. Burial was in the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery.
