…Addie's Waukon, IA Standard Obit read: "…Casket bearers were Victor Johnson, Dean Krieg, Lyle Hamlett, Carl Coonfare, Bob Basten and Paul Fannon. Leonard Funeral Home in Edgewood was in charge of arrangements.

She was born September 21, 1901, daughter of Charles E. and Jennie Melvina (Ingles) Hook, at their farm home near Greeley, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Carl Gleason on October 10, 1919, in the home of Rev. Ernest True, near Edgewood. They lived and farmed in Elk Township all of their married life, which was just short of 75 years.

Addie's family and home were her life. Some of her specialties that will be remembered were her molasses cookies, lemon pie and canned wild raspberries, much of which she gave away.

She died Tuesday night, September 17, 2002, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood from complications of age.

Survivors include her children, Katherine R. Fisher of Marion and Glen (Irene) Gleason of Greeley; five grandchildren, Gary E. (Myrna J.) Fisher, Cedar Rapids, Gayle A. (Bloyce) Johnson, West Des Moines, Nile R. (Debra) Gleason, Edgewood, Donna M. (William) Brummond, Mequon, Wis., and Elvis G. (Joan) Gleason, Greeley; ten great-grandchildren, David L. Fisher, Cedar Rapids, Steven A. (Rebecca) Johnson, Lumberton, N.C., Sandra L. Johnson, Cedar Rapids, Sally D. (Nate) Taylor, Cedar Rapids, Susan I. Gleason, Edgewood, Carl Brummond, Mequon, Wis., Cathy Brummond, Mequon, Wis., Karen Brummond, Mequon, Wis., Michelle Gleason, Greeley, and Eric Gleason, Greeley; a sister-in-law, Mae (Moser) Hook, Colesburg, and nieces and nephews.

Addie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in February of 1994, her parents; her siblings, Alvena Ash Northrup, Alma Combs, Mabel Kafer Morley, Jennie Devereux, and Ernest Ted Hook, and a great-grandson, Scott A. Johnson."
