FUNERAL RITES FOR MRS. CELESTA BROWN HELD AT MEXICO
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Precht Funeral Home, Mexico, for Mrs. Celesta Myrtle Hendrix Brown of Mexico who died Thursday at Audrain County Hospital, Mexico, where she had been a patient one month. Rev. Lynn Johnson officiated at the last rites.
Mrs. Brown was born Feb. 8, 1884 in Pike County, the daughter of William and Mary Elizabeth Dowell Hendrix. On Christmas Day 1899, she was married to Robert E. Brown who preceded her in death July 22, 1955.
Children surviving are: L.N. Brown, Miss Belva Brown, Miss Maude Brown, Miss Lucille Brown and Mrs. James Kirk of Mexico; W. R. Brown and Lawrence Brown of Laddonia; Mrs. Bessie Freels of Vandalia; Marion W. Brown of Florissant, Edgar Brown of Leland, Ill., and Mrs. E.R. Hahnfeld of Kansas City; 27 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; two half-brothers, Dick Hendrix of Moore-Pike Rest Home in Bowling Green and John Hendrix of Seminole, Okla.
Mrs. Brown was prededed in death by two sons, Forest and Eugene Brown and one daughter, Miss Irene Brown; two brothers, one half-brother, two sisters and one grandson.
Burial was in Eastlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
For a number of years the Brown family resided north of Curryville after which Mrs. Brown made her home in town until her health failed and she moved to Mexico to be near her children.
