Ezekiel Hampton Sr. Now evidence, such as Col. Andrew Hampton's 1805 will suggest Ezekiel's father may have been a cousin, also named Andrew, of Granville Co. (far north/central NC) who moved to Georgia.

The Gravesite Marker Stone incription of Col. Andrew Hampton reads as the following:

In the name of God Amen I Andrew Hampton of the County of Rutherford and State of North Carolina Being at present in a low State of health but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God, for his mercies Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make constitute and ordain this as my last Will and Testament (to wit) First and principally I resign my Soul to the care of Almighty God to be Dealt with according to his Devine Goodness, my body I recommend to the Earth to be Buried in a Decent Christain like manner at the discretion of my Executors I also will that all my just Debts be paid of whatsoever nature they be and with respect to such Worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give bequeath demise and Dispose of in the following (to wit) I give unto my youngest son Washington the land on which I now live Including the hole that appertain thereto being a part of Several Tracts to be by him and his heirs fully possessed and enjoyed forever I further Devise and bequeath unto him a negroe boy named Jack also the one fourth part of all my crop that is growing or made this present year in full of his part, or proportion of my estate I also leave to the care for the use of my Daughter Elizabeth Price my old negroe woman Dinah, I further leave to the care for the use of my Daughter Nancy Bradly, my old negroe man Will, the Remainder or Residue of my Estate both real and Personal after my Just Debts is paid will that they be Disposed of in the following manner that my negroes Tom Eve Ben Patt Sall & Mirea Be Valued by three Respecttable freeholders and a Division of them so to be made that all my children have a Just and equal Distribution of there value Washington only excepted, my Stock and all other my Property both real and personal Including the Land I sold to Bowman that does come within the reach of my Just Demands I will to be sold or so Disposed of that will tend to the best advantage and to be applied to the use of paying my Debts and the overplus if any to be equally Devided among my children or there Heirs as afoursaid namely Jonathan, Susanah, Andrew, John, Elizabeth, Nancy, Benjamin Alcie, Rachel, & Mary, Adam, Michel & Catharine Dead whose part is to be Rece,d by their heirs or representatives in Law within two years after my Deceas.d if Demanded and in order that my will be carried into Execution according to the contents thereof I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Jonathan Hampton to be my sole Executor of this my last will and testament to have and use such Discretional power as he in his judgment may conceive the nature of the business does require for the due and full Execution of this my last will according to the intent and meaning thereof Disanulling and revoking all former wills and Testament ratifying and confirming this only to be my last will & testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and seal this 20t day of July 1805.
