Funeral services for Wiley Joe Baker, 36-year-old resident of Chicago who was drowned in Guntersville Lake early Sunday morning, will be held in Guntersville Wednesday. Services will be at 11 a.m. from the First Baptist Church of Guntersville with the Rev. D.W. Edward and the Rev. Billy York officiating. Carr Funeral Home of Guntersville will direct interment. The body will be at the church for an hour before the services.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a former resident of Owens Cross Roads. He formerly served in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Norma Jean Maynard Baker; one daughter, Pamela Jo Baker, both of Chicago; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry R. Baker of Route 4, Guntersville; five brothers, the Rev. W. B. Baker of Shawmut, Ala., Thurman, Robert and Gayle Baker of Rt. 4, Guntersville, and Harry Baker Jr., U.S. Navy in Havana, Cuba,; four sisters, Mrs. Riley Lewis of New Hope, Mrs. Richard Clark of Guntersville, Mrs. T. H. Bedell of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. B. E. Harless of Gurley.
