Evelyn L. Lavey, 82, formerly of 1802 Carol Drive, Piqua, died at 8:30 am, Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in the Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born January 13, 1926 in Bradford to the late James E. and Florence (Sowers) Pitsenbarger. She married Dale A. Lavey June 6, 1942 in Portland, Indiana; he preceded her in death February 13, 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Michael (Anne) Lavey, David (Barbara) Lavey all of Piqua; one daughter Vivian L. Lavey of Piqua; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Vonnie) Pitsenbarger of New Weston; and four sisters, Shirley Swabb and Norma Trent both of Greenville, Eunice Fritz of Coldwater, and Alice Sanders of Ansonia. She was preceded in death by a brother, Adrian; a sister, Edy; one son, and one daughter.
Mrs. Lavey was a homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed playing cards, was active with Mother's Clubs, and a member of the Upper Valley Community Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am Friday, February 29, 2008 in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew J. Monnin officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, Inc., P. O. Box 502, Troy, OH 45373.
