CHARLES H. HOFF 81, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2002 at his home in Castro Valley, California. He was a resident of Castro Valley for 70 years. Charles was born to Ruth and William Hoff in San Francisco, California on February 18, 1921. Charles worked for Western Electric as a Supervisor of Installation for 40 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneer of America Association. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge-Acacia Lodge #243 of Free &Accepted Masons of California. He was a member of the Hump Pilots Association. He was a member of the CBI Theater. He served as a First Lt. in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Hayward High School in Hayward, California. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He especially enjoyed raising orchids. He was very active in the Boy Scouts with his sons while they were growing up. The Hoffs were a flying family. His father was the first Licensed Pilot in California. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Norma M. Hoff of Castro Valley, California. He was a very devoted father to his daughter and three sons. His daughter, Cynthia L. Harris of Hillsborough, Oregon and sons, David H. Hoff of Fresno, California, Eric C. Hoff of Pleasanton, California and Douglas M. Hoff of Auburn, California. He leaves behind his brother, William C. Hoff of Fresno, California. He was an adoring grandfather to eight grandchildren, Brian Harris, Gregory Harris, Meghan Harris, Samantha Hoff, Ashley Hoff, Starr Hoffman, E. Beau Hoff and Scott Hoff. He also leaves behind his precious five great-grandchildren, Tyler Hoffman, Todd Hoffman, Barliz Hoffman, Cameron Hoff and Catlyn Hoff. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home - Reflection Chapel, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544. A Private Inurnment was held at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations may be sent in his memory to the American Cancer Society: Central Alameda County & Tri-Cities Units; 1900 Mowry Avenue, Suite #405, Fremont, CA 94538 or to the Leukemia Society of America; Northern California Chapter; 832 Folsom Street, 9th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94107-3465.
