US Congressman. He graduated from Depaw University in 1931 and the University of Illinois in 1935. He maintained a private law practice from 1935-1940 when he was elected Champaign County States Attorney. From 1950-1971 he served in the House of Representatives, leaving because of poor health. He was a veteran of WWII. He was a member of Western Star Lodge No. 240 A.F. and A.M.

Buried with his wife, Elsie Cora in a small family lot. Their inscriptions appear on the west side of the large lot marker. Their grave markers are on the west side of the lot marker . Cora Lee is to the north of William.
