Alene Bennett, age 94 of Jericho, died Saturday, November 10, 2007, at Homestead Nursing Center. Daughter of the late Ida Kelley and Oscar Cox, she was a homemaker.
She was survived by one daughter, Helen Prewitt, Eminence; two sons: Gene Bennett and wife, Frances Ann, and Ralph Bennett, all of New Castle; two brothers: Herman Cox, Bagdad; Roscoe Cox, Louisville; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Mack Bennett, and one son, Harold Bennett.
Funeral services were held at noon on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, Rev. Garry Polston, New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated. Rev. Libby McManis, pastor of Pleasureville Christian Church, assisted. Interment was in New Castle Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Combs, Kenny James, Bobby Erwin, John Roberts, Dale Whitaker and Josh Hay.
