There is no proof that he was (and probably was NOT)born in England. It is also doubtful that he served in the Continental Army. His probable parents are Francis Sanders(Birth Bet.1715–1722 in Stafford County, Virginia

It is believed Moses moved to Anson County from either Loudoun County or Brunswick County VA shortly after his marriage to Mary Hamilton. He and his family, brothers or cousins, began accumulating property almost immediately circa 1771/2. When Montgomery was formed in 1779 some of his properties fell into the newly formed County of Montgomery.
