Funeral services for Mable J. Archer, 92, a longtime resident of Somerville are set for 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2008 from Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Jimmy VanDorn officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Thursday until 9:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Archer died Tuesday at Bishop Davies Nursing Center in Hurst.
She was born June 21, 1915, in Tunis, the daughter of Hiram Fane and Bessie Jane Sexton McMinn. She was baptized in 1930 in the Providence Baptist Church and was married to James H. Archer in 1935 in Snook. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Somerville.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Willie McMinn ; and a sister, Doris Lewis.
Survivors include a daughter, three sons and a daughter-in-law, a brother and sister-in-law, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Family members have requested that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Somerville.
