Nancy Ellen Everitt, 44, of Ione, Calif., formerly of Carthage, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson, Calif., of heart failure. She was born November 28, 1953, in Quincy, the daughter of Roscoe ("Mac") and Margaret McDaniel. She is survived by a daughter, Emily Ann Everitt, 15, and a son, Matthew ("Mac") Everitt, 14. Other survivors include her father of Carthage; four sisters, Jane Boston (and husband Larry) of Livermore, Calif., Kathy McDaniel of Oakland, Calif., Barbara Chapman (and husband Bud) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and Beth Cockrel (and husband Tim) of Papillion, Neb.; a niece, Chrisi Boston of Tracy, Calif.; four nephews, Mark Boston (and wife Vanessa) of Sacramento, Calif.; Matt Dahlback of Oakland, Calif.; and Ryan and Ben Cockrel of Papillion, Neb.; a great-niece and great-nephew, Danielle and Jason Dahlbacka; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and by her grandparents, Ernest and Ma [correction: Mary] McDaniel and Paul and Bertha Symmonds. Nancy graduated from Carthage Community High School, and attended Western Illinois University and Lake Tahoe (Calif.) Community College. She worked in the Hancock County Clerk's office and for a Keokuk radio station while living in Carthage. Her jobs in California included work for the City of Livermore, Harvey's Casino, U.S. Windpower, and East Bay Municipal Utilities District at Pardee. Nancy and her children had lived in Amador County, Calif., for over 11 years. She had been active in local music groups and in her church, the Ione Community United Methodist Church, where she was a former president of the United Methodist Women. Nancy loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. Her hobbies included rock hounding and spending time outdoors. More than anything, she was devoted to her children. Services were held on Thursday, Nov. 19, at Ione Community United Methodist Church. The body has been cremated, and will be interred at Moss ridge Cemetery in Carthage. A memorial service will be held in Carthage at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for Nancy's children.
