CARTHAGE, Ill. -- Mrs. Margaret Jane McDaniel, 66, of Carthage, a retired personnel director, died Saturday, (Nov. 10, 1990) in Blessing Hospital, Quincy. Born Aug. 22, 1924, in Hamilton, Mrs. McDaniel was a daughter of Paul and Bertha Smith Symmonds. She retired in April 1990 from Methode Electronics Inc. Mrs. McDaniel was a member of First United Methodist Church, Grace Chapter, OES, and the American Legion Auxiliary. On Nov. 28, 1943, she married Roscoe McDaniel. He survives. Other suvivors includ five daughters, Mrs. Larry (Jane) Boston of Livermore, Calif., Mrs. Daniel (Kathy) McDaniel of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Bud (Barb) Chapman of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; Mrs. Tim (Beth) Cockrel of Bangor, Wash., and Nancy Everitt of Ione, Calif.; seven grandchildren; her mother, Bertha Symmonds of Carthage; and a brother, Jim Symmonds of Laton, Calif. She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Sam, and a sister, Dorothy. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Jamison. Burial will be in Moss Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held after noon Sunday in the DeJong-Neiser Funeral home wtih family meeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
