Mary Appleton was born on August 13, 1932 in Lawn, Texas to parents Forney W. Burford and Nelle Burnes Burford. She was a lifelong Taylor County resident. She graduated from Abilene High School, attended Hardin Simmons University and married Carlos W. Appleton in Abilene on October 26, 1952. She was a member of Hwy 36 Church of Christ, Potosi Extension Club and Potosi Quilt Club. Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Carlos Appleton, of Potosi; two daughters: Laura and husband, Tommy Kute, of Abilene; and Carla and husband, Benny Rawls, of Houston. Also a brother, Edsel Burford and a sister, Joyce Stewart, both of Abilene. Also grandchildren: Emily and husband, Scott, Anna, Beth and B.J. Great grandchildren are Macy and Bryleigh Christine.
