James M. Bromagem, son of Elias Bromagem of Ohio. James was married to Mary J. Braden in Randolph Co, IN in 1855. He was a newspaper publisher and was known to have started several newspapers throughout Indiana including Centerville and Portland. He entered the army during the Civil War fighting for two IN divisions. After his discharge, he became severely ill and eventually became paralyzed. After a brief term at the Dayton, OH soldiers' hospital, he was sent to St Elizabeth's in Washington, D.C. for further treatment but died in 1871 after only a short stay in that hospital. He was survived by his wife and 4 children.
