Erastus Beedle was the son of Johnson Beedle and Harriet Loper. He served in Co. B, 18 Illinois Infantry during the Civil War.

ERASTUS BEEDLE DEAD
Former Resident of Garrett Township is Buried Sunday Morning in Cemetery at Bourbon
Erastus Beedle, formerly a well-known farmer of the southern part of Garrett township, died at 5 o'clock last Thursday evening at his home in Mattoon. He had been ill since the first of the year, suffering from softening of the brain.
The remains were brought to this city Sunday morning, and at the train were met by the Odd Fellows. The body was taken overland to Bourbon, where the funeral services were held, in the presence of about 60 Odd Fellows, and numerous other friends. Rev. W. S. Calhoun made a short address at the grave, while the Odd Fellows were in charge of the internment.
Mr. Beedle was 66 years of age and is survived by a wife and adopted daughter, two brothers and two sisters. He had been a resident of Mattoon for some six years. Besides being an old soldier Mr. Beedle was a Mason, Odd Fellow and member of the Eastern Star. He was born in Vigo county, Ind., September 25, 1844 and was converted at Garrett and joined the Methodist Church in 18--.
