Obituary-Peoria Star-Friday, January 10, 1908

DEHORITY-Avery S. died Thursday morning, 11:20, at the Proctor hospital, age 74 years. Funeral services at 1:20 Saturday afternoon from 303 Hillyer Place thence to East Peoria at 2:30 p. m. from the M. E. Church. Interment at East Peoria.

*A small announcement also appeared in the paper on January 9th, 1908 stating his death and that an obituary would run at a later time.

He was the son of George Washington & Mary Draper Dehority, both natives of Delaware. He emigrated to Tazewell County, Illinois in 1838 and settled on a 160 acre estate in East Peoria. They lived here until his death. He worked as a farmer in addition to his positions held with the town and county.

He married Matilda Jane Cross on September 19th, 1860 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.

He was the father of Alexander Curtis Dehority, Olive Belle Dehority Crombie, James Howard Dehority, Opal May Dehority Reichelderfer, and Oma Dell Dehority Dolan.

He died in the family home at 1025 E. Washington, East Peoria, Tazewell County, Illinois.

He was a Town treasurer for 3 years, Town clerk for 6 years and Constable for 2 years.
