WELLS, Ashford Virgil, 87, of Paden City, W.Va., died Sunday, February 24, 2008, at his residence.

Ashford was born November 24, 1920, in St Mary's, W.Va., the son of the late Wilbert and Leona Davis Wells.

He was a retired employee of PPG Industries of New Martinsville, W.Va.; with 30 years of service; 50-year member of Wetzel Masonic Lodge No. 39 A.F. & A.M.; a 30-year member of American Legion Post 86 of Paden City; a WWII Army Air Force veteran; and a baptized member of United Brethren Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, May Margaret Wells, in 1994; sister, Alice Wells Tippens; and infant niece, Beth Ann.

Surviving are two sisters, Juanita Wells and Molly Wells Watkins both of Paden City; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at the Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2008, with the Rev. Darrel Gooden officiating.

Interment in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City.

Masonic graveside services will be held by Wetzel Masonic Lodge No. 39 A.F. & A.M.; and full military graveside services will be conducted by Paden City American Legion Post 86, New Martinsville American Legion Post 28, Sistersville American Legion Post 67, and Sistersville VFW Post 6327.
