Alice J. Coghill, 101, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas.

She was born March 1, 1906, in Fort Scott, Kansas, to Charles Oscar and Winnie (Cook) Coghill.

She moved to Iola with her parents in 1911. She was graduated from Iola High School in 1924.

She worked in Kansas City as a secretary and bookkeeper until the 1940s when she returned to Iola to care for her parents. Following the deaths of her parents, she lived in the quad cities area before moving to Arizona. She returned to Iola in 1988, moving here from Arkansas. The home at 623 E. Lincoln served as the Coghill home in Iola for many years.

She is survived by her niece, Mary Jo Doherty and husband, Phil, Leawood, KS.

Three sisters, Esther (Coghill) Garlinghouse, Jean (Coghill) Tripp, and Mary J. (Coghill) Leach, died earlier.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas under the direction of Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels, Iola, KS.
