Tyrone Daily Herald October 8 1898 John Fry died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Mary Albright, on Pennsylvania Avenue at 8 oclock this morning after an illness of less than two weeks. Born at Bayern, Germany on the 13th of July 1813 he was at the time of his death 85 years 2 months and 25 days old. In 1839 he removed from the country of his nativity to the United States first locating at Hollidaysburg, then Huntingdon Furnace, and finally settling down in Tuckahoe Valley where he engaged in farming for many years and where his wife died about twelve years ago. About nine years ago he came to Tyrone and has since made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Albright. The deceased was a member of the English Lutheran Church of Tyrone and was an unassuming but reliable and useful citizen of the community in the days of his activity. His death was due entirely to old age. Surviving are four children Mrs. Susan Ayers, Mrs. Mary Albright, John Fry and George Fry. Funeral will occur on Monday next Services at the home of Mrs. Albright at 10:00 am by Rev. FL Bergstresser, Internment at Tyrone Cemetery.
