Received a three-year certificate from the San Francisco Polytechnic High School on June 12, 1900, and in 1904 he graduated from the University of California with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanics (Mechanical Engineering).

Founded the Pacific Automobile Exchange in 1907 in San Francisco.

Spouse: Florence S. [Guggenheim] Abbey (1885 - 1973). She married Jessie C. Colman in 1923.

Note: At sometime after 1904 he changed his last name to from Abenheim to Abbey.
