Claude H. Abell, 85, Pendleton, Indiana, died January 8, 2008 at Rawlins House Nursing Home, Pendleton after an extended illness. He was born February 17, 1922 near Birdseye, Indiana, the son of Fred B. and Lula Mae (Smith) Abell. He resided in Pendleton for the past 50 years.

He loved his family, his Lord, and his cats. He was a World War Two Army veteran serving in the European Theater from 1942 through 1945. He retired from Citizen's Gas and Coke Utility, Indianapolis after 34 years where he was head welder and welding instructor.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Maxine (Kellems) Abell whom he married April 9, 1948; a daughter, Carol (Paul) Beckham of Markleville; a son, Mark (Nova Filbrun)Abell; granddaughter, Mary (Beckham) Rhodus; great granddaughter, Danielle Rhodus; brothers, Carl Abell, Howard Abell, and Harold Abell; sisters, Pauline Harris and Mildred Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Clyde Abell, Clarence Abell, and James Abell.

Services were entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home of Pendelton, Indiana.
