John Bernard Adamson MM & 2 bars of Leslie, Saskatchewan was KIA at Canal du Nord, Pas-de-Calais, France. He was the son of Thomas B. and Alice Adamson of Oxbow who later moved to Napier, New Zealand. John was born at Peckham, Greater London, England, and homesteaded just south of Leslie before enlisting at Yorkton early in 1916.
Military Medal awarded 19171119:
On the night of 24/25th August 1917. He brought in a wounded man under heavy barrage fire from the enemy, and also took a walking case back to the dressing station. Has done consistently good work throughout.
Bar to the Military Medal 19180223:
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty, October 26th 1917. Gave a fine example of bravery and devotion to duty. During the consolidation of the new line, he took charge of an advance post, all Company N.C.O.'s having become casualties. He performed this duty with great zeal and ability, and sent back valuable information. He gave personal assistance in getting out wounded under heavy sniping and artillery fire.
