Ann Howard Boone, 89, passed away Feb. 18, 2008, in her home. Born in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ocie and Margaret Howard. Ann was a retired waitress and a member of Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children, Bobbi O'Neal and her husband Richard of Virginia Beach, Shirley Babb of Suffolk and Billy Boone and his wife Vonda of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sarah Branch of Ohio and Peggy Reed and her husband Kaye of Newport News. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar T. Boone; two children, Robert Earl Smith and Sylvia Smith; her sister, Hulda May Jones; and her brother, Ocie Norfleet Howard Jr.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny O'Neal officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
