Hattie L. Harris, 70, was called home to be with the Lord Feb. 11, 2008, at the Renaissance Rehabilitation Center in Muncie, after a sudden illness.

She was born July, 23, 1937, in Sumterville, Ala. She graduated from Sumterville Training School and relocated to Birmingham, Ala., to further her education in the clerical field and cosmetology.

While living in Birmingham, she met her future husband, Charlie Harris Jr. They moved to Anderson on July 16, 1973, where they later married. She began her career in cosmetology but later set her career aside to become a homemaker. Hattie accepted Christ at age 11 when she joined Sunlight Baptist Church in Hamtner, Ala. She later joined the Anderson Zion Baptist Church.

Hattie leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her sweet memories, a son Charles F. Harris of Columbia, Md.; two daughters, Ella L. Harris and Patricia (husband, Ronald) Williams; special friends, Mary Dixon and Jamila Dixon, all of Anderson; beloved sisters, Fannie Thomas of Bessemer, Ala., Millie Rencher of Emelle, Ala., Zarl Edgerson of Cleveland, Ohio; three grandsons, Dorian Wilson, Ronald Williams Jr. and Zadrick Harris; three granddaughters, Dabriona Williams, Zaria Harris and LaKyia Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Harris Jr.; parents, Mary L. Bester and King Robinson; two sons; Charlie Harris III and Cedric B. Harris; and a sister, Florence Bester.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at L.C. May Funeral Services, 2024 Madison Ave., Anderson, with the Rev. Thomas Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
