S. Ruth Adair, 78, of Trindle Road, Carlisle, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 in Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, Carlisle.

She was born Aug. 30, 1924 in Perry County to the late Oscar S. and Margaret E. (Gutshall) Adair.

She retired as a secretary to the business manager at Carlisle School District; was a former employee of JW Myers Wholesaler, Carlisle; a 1942 graduate of Blain Vocational School and a 1943 graduate of Central Pennsylvania Business School; a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, where she served on various committees and was a Sunday school teacher, and Cumberland County Secretaries Association; and a life member of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.

Surviving are her caretakers, Thomas and Beverly Sheaffer of Carlisle; and three cousins, Irene Stelle of North Middleton Twp., Joanne Gutshall Roberts of Mechancisburg and Virgil Gutshall of Blain.

Services were held Nov. 9 in her church with the Rev. Sterlen S. Sheaffer officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery
