Florence Adell Absher, 79, of Carrier Mills, died 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery near Ozark. Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Carrier Mills First Baptist Church Building Fund and left at the funeral home.

She was born on March 4, 1928, in Pope County to the late Alonzo and Tena (Baker) Nance.


She married William "Bill" Absher on Aug. 30, 1947, and he preceded her in death on May 4, 1993.

She is survived by a daughter, Alisa (Larry) Stocks of Marion; a granddaughter, Arla Capel of Marion; two stepgrandchildren, Lauren Stocks and Rachel Stocks, both of Marion; a brother, Herbert Nance of Simpson; and a sister-in-law, Lorene Nance of Simpson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Bob Nance and Curt Nance; and three sisters, Ruth Jackson, Ludean Nance and an infant sister.
