He was promoted to Captain with Zurlauben's regiment in 1699, and made Lieutenant-Colonel in 1701. He was promoted to Colonel of the Kronoberg regiment 1706, but was captured at Perovolochna and held prisoner until 1722. He was a Lieutenant-General of of the infantry in 1722. He was made a Baron in 1727, and named the County Governor of Malmö and Commandant of Skåne Province in 1727. He fought in 13 battles, and was never wounded. He spoke 8 languages: Swedish, Latin, German, Estonian, Polish, Russian, French and Dutch."

July 26, 1737 in Malmö, Skåne, Sweden.

He is buried at Caroli Church in Malmö, Skåne, Sweden.
