Joe "J.B." Bishop Jr., 87, of Carrollton, Ky., formerly of Owen County, Ky., died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Ky.

He was born Dec. 9, 1920, in Owen County, Ky., the son of Joe Sr. and Ollie Floyd Bishop. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He was the former owner of Bishop's Feed Store in Owenton, Ky. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Owen County Veterans of Foreign Wars and Southfork Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Monta Jo Hudgins of Carrollton, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Cobb Bishop, who died Jan. 28, 2002; his parents; three sisters, Pauline Bishop Ayers, Bernice Baker and Dora Jones; four brothers, Goebel, Ed and Fred Bishop; and one infant brother.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Owenton, Ky.
