Melvyn O. Lysford, 67, Lake Bronson, died at his winter home in Dalhart, Texas Saturday, March 17, 2001.

Melvyn was born in Jupiter Township of Kittson County Dec. 17, 1933 the son of Otto and Minnie (Erickson) Lysford. He attended school in Lake Bronson and Karlstad, graduating from Karlstad High School in 1951. Melvyn was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany for two years.

On Aug. 22, 1956 he was untied in marriage to Irene Wallace at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hallock. Melvyn worked for the Kiene Farms at Kennedy for over 40 years, retiring in 1994. He and Irene wintered in Dalhart for the past five years and spent their summers at home in Lake Bronson. Melvyn was a member of St. Patrick's Church.

Family members include his wife, Irene; a daughter, Mary Kay (Kenneth) Schuh, Lakota, N.D.; four sons, Troy (Kathleen), Dalhart, Texas; Vernon (Jill), Minot, N.D.; Timothy "Econ" (Josie), Dalhart, Texas and Douglas (Nancy), Coon Rapids; nine grandchildren,; a step granddaughter; a sister, Marlys (Ronald) Dowell, Great Falls, Mont; and two brothers, Rodney (Jeanette) Lysford, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Jerome (Patricia) Lysford, Forest Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter.

Funeral services were Thursday, March 22, 2001, 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Hallock.

Interment was in the Olso Cemetery, rural Kennedy. Rev. Timothy Noah, Presided.

Pallbearers were Troy Lysford, Vernon Lysford, Timothy Lysford, Douglas Lysford, Charles Lysfjord, and Donald Westling.
