Born January 25, 1931 in St. Paul, Va., he was the son of the late James Howard and Eunice Jane Sisk Griffith. He was retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad and was a member of Woodsmen of America.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Don Griffith, Hermon Griffith, Ed Griffith, Warren Griffith, Walter Griffith and Jack Griffith; and sisters, Lucy Nash and Carlene Raines.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Martha (Dot) Griffith; one daughter, Debbie Griffith Tabor and husband Donnie (Don) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Matthew Austin Tabor and Kristen Renee Tabor; one brother, Bob Griffith and wife Virginia of Castlewood; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va. with the Rev. Dan Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Jeff Davis, Herman Bressler, Toby Davis, Jim Griffith and Jamie Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Nolley, Rennie Wilson and Glen Tabor.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (today) at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va.
