Albert L. Abeldt was born March 19, 1926 in Sayre, OK to Jessie and William Abeldt. He passed away November 26, 2009 at Erick, Oklahoma at the age of 83 year, 8 months and 7 days.


Albert joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served his country during World War War II, receiving the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 star. After his discharge he returned to Sayre where he was married to Dorys Abeldt in 1962 and they remained in Sayre to make their home. Albert worked for the Sayre Headlight Journal for 43 years before going to work for Northfork REC. He remained there for 10 years before retiring in 1991.


He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers and sisters.


He is survived by 2 nieces, Leslie Kay Pratt, Oklahoma City, OK, Joy Sue Moeler, Sedona, AZ and 1 nephew, Buford Abeldt, Lufkin, TX.
