On March 6, 1879, he married Charlotte Elizabeth Wilkinson in Coffey, Daviess co., Missouri in a double wedding with his brother William Orson and Charlotte's sister, Laura Jane Wilkinson.
Horace died while working on the farm of his daughter and son in law, Claude Evaston & Julia Ann (Adams) Gowey near Blencoe, Monona Co., Iowa while raking burning stubble. He got caught up in the team of horses, and was dragged through the burning stubble.
Several of his grandchildren are still living (2008). They all agree that he was buried in Blencoe Cemetery after his death. A son, Oliver John Adams (5/11/1885 to 12/4/1937) as well as a great-granddaughter of Horace and Charlotte, namely, Ruth Marie Miller 1933 to abt. 1935, are buried as well in Blencoe Cem. We are not sure whether any of these graves are marked or not. Any help would be appreciated in locating the graves.
